A. Our programs are taught by experienced entrepreneurs who currently operate businesses or non-profit organizations. We chose this approach to give students exposure to real-world business perspectives and experiences.
A. Participants will have opportunities to learn soft skills (presentation, communication, teamwork, leadership, research and planning), business skills (business model, project management, financial forecasting), and problem solving skills (including design process, and making and testing models and prototypes). These will key skills that will help students in their future endeavors, including post-secondary education in any career they choose.
A. Yes. Our Problem-Based Learning program can be adapted to fit into different school schedules and learning objectives. For example, we have combined PBL modules to suit longer periods, and adapted specific PBL modules to kick off inquiry projects in Science, Geography and STEM classes - and our PBL program has been adapted for students from grade 4 to grade 12 (and adult). All programs are available in-person and online.
A. Yes. The first day starts the ideation process and includes design thinking and “building a pitch presentation” workshops. Building on Day 1, the second day starts with a workshop on public speaking, and after some time to work and practice, moves into the final presentations to the judging panel.
A. Yes, as long as your idea will help address a meaningful problem facing the community or globe (as opposed to making money for the sake of making money, because that's not really our thing).
A. No. Most participants have come up with their ideas in the morning of the first day - and some of those ideas have continue well past the conference, as the teams wanted to keep working on their solutions for other competitions or entrepreneurship programs.
A. It's up to you. After participants vote on which ideas to shortlist, teams will form around those ideas. You and your friends may choose to work on the same problem, or you may decide to work on different ones - it's up to you.
A. Your registration fee includes breakfast, lunch and dinner (and snacks and drinks) on both days of the conference. If you have a favourite food, feel free to bring it – but we’ll make sure you’re fed (even if you have unique dietary needs).
